DRAFT RECAP

friday, september 4, 2026 • 12 teams • 15 rounds • 180 picks
THE ROBOTS MADE 44 OF THEM

Twelve teams. Fifteen rounds. Roughly ninety minutes of clock and a chat window that peaked at “i am fun.” Two teams were drafted entirely by autopick, one running back was drafted off the exempt list, and one was drafted off no team at all. Everything below is straight from the ESPN pick log. The awards are editorial.

Draft Night Awards NO TROPHIES

The Exempt List Special

Cherry Pie Inferno
8.04 · Josh Jacobs

Autopick reached into Round 8 and grabbed a running back the NFL has barred from practicing or playing, with no return date. The robot did this. The robot was also on the clock for 11 of Cherry Pie's 15 picks, so the robot and Cherry Pie will be splitting the season together.

The Free Agent

Tifff with 3 F’s
2.09 · Nick Chubb

A second-round pick on a running back who does not, as of draft night, have an NFL team. Bold. Fearless. Tifff's contribution to the draft chat that night, in its entirety: “i am fun.” Case closed.

The Beach Chairs

TakedownDDT & Jimmy's Scary Team
15 for 15, both

Two teams were drafted entirely by ESPN's autopick. Neither manager made a single selection. The uncomfortable part: the robots pulled Amon-Ra, Saquon, Garrett Wilson, James Cook, CeeDee Lamb and Malik Nabers, which is a better first three rounds than several humans managed. Also one of them autodrafted Tank Dell, who is on injured reserve, so the robots aren't perfect either.

The Conscientious Objector

Illegal Touching
15.02 · Tyler Loop

Refused to draft a kicker on principle. ESPN made him do it with the second-to-last pick. Meanwhile Roachweiser took Brandon Aubrey in Round 8, 85 picks earlier. Two philosophies. One of them is going to look very silly in December.

Twelfth Is Perfect

Roachweiser
1.12 · Justin Jefferson

“I got 12th, perfect.” Everyone nodded politely. Then Justin Jefferson fell to pick 12 and Achane came back at 13. He was right, and we're all a little annoyed about it.

Just My Luck

Bacon’s Bad Decision Crew
1.11 / 2.02

“11th lol just my luck.” The luck: Omarion Hampton and Chase Brown at the turn, then Chargers Team QB and the Patriots defense at the end. The bad decisions will have to wait for the waiver wire.

Ugh

Stax Patrix
1.01 · Jahmyr Gibbs

“1 is the worst. Ugh.” Stax then took the consensus number one player in fantasy football, followed by Christian Watson in Round 6 and Broncos D. A tragic night for a man forced to take Jahmyr Gibbs.

The Team QB Stampede

The whole league
4 gone by pick 53

This is a Team QB league, and it showed. Bills went 3.09, Ravens 4.01, Eagles 4.09, Patriots 5.05. By Round 9, nine of twelve teams had one and the Bears, Chiefs and Chargers were going in the same round. WhoCanForgetThis? panicked and took the Bengals in Round 6, then bought Saints Team QB insurance in Round 12 like a man who has been burned before.

Kicker Believer

WhoCanForgetThis?
14.07 · Jake Bates

Took a kicker in Round 14 on purpose, one pick after the Eagles defense, and skipped the higher-projected one to do it. Two Team QBs, two Rams running backs, and a kicker with a full round to spare. A man with a plan, or a man with a spreadsheet. Same thing.
